If you are familiar with the infertility community around twitter, you know that there has been a bit of drama lately. It happens now and then, just like with anywhere else. But it's always inevitably followed by many people going on and on about what twitter is and isn't for.
"Twitter is for love and support!"
"Twitter isn't a place for drama."
Blah, blah, blah.
I realize that a lot of people use twitter as an escape from the Real World, and that's fine. The only problem with this is that the people who inhabit twitter also inhabit the Real World. And guess what? They have faults and shortcomings just like the rest of us.
They get jealous. They're negative. They're petty. They're judgmental. They're argumentative. Not dominant traits, but at times those things are going to shine through. It's human nature. We all go through it. It's something we have to learn to live with.
Twitter is an amazing support network and there are a lot of great people there. But it can't always be sunshine and rainbows, people. If we're going to decide what twitter is and isn't for, maybe we should allow it to be a place where we can all be open, honest, and ramble on about whatever the fuck we want, be it petty, positive, negative, or what have you.
I, for one, refuse to censor myself for any reason. Don't like it? Don't follow. Simple as that. But nobody should be berated for speaking their mind. And if you're looking for constant positivity? Well. Good luck with that.
Yes! This!
